An account of the Shockley session at the National Academy of Sciences autumn meeting held at Dartmouth. The article reports that the Academy had repeatedly declined to endorse Shockley's research recommendations on race, that its president explained Shockley had offered no new research and no new method and was confusing the available data with his own views on welfare policy, and that of the seventy-five Academy members at the conference only three or four attended the session.
