- Description
- Willie Bogan grew up in Albion, Michigan, and was recruited after head coach Bob Blackman mailed a questionnaire to high school coaches across the country; Bogan's own coach filled one in without telling him. He was an All-Ivy defensive back on the undefeated 1970 team and, in his final year, one of thirty-two Rhodes Scholars selected in the United States, among five Black Rhodes Scholars that year. He was part of the group that organised the response to Shockley and one of the students disciplined afterwards, and attributes being identified to his visibility as a well-recognised football player. He says the College owed the students an apology. See all items with this value
