Mary Secutor
Unlike her fellow female student, Hannah Garrett, Secutor would have been considered a failure in Wheelock's perspective
Mary Secutor was part of the Narragansett tribe and was another female student at Moor's Charity School. Coming from an influential family that rose to high regard in colonial times, she began MCS in 1763 and left in 1768.
However, unlike her fellow female student, Hannah Garrett, Secutor would have been considered a failure from Wheelock's perspective. Secutor never married and went back to her community after leaving MCS. However, there are more documents surviving from Secutor and there is evidence that she learned how to read and write.
